What does REIBC do?

REIBC is a member-based organization that acts as an umbrella group for people in all segments of the real estate industry. We work with a variety of organizations across the province, together promoting knowledge, expertise and professionalism within the industry. REIBC hosts and promotes a wide variety of opportunities, including professional development seminars, workshops and other events, to bring real estate professionals together. We also promote high industry standards by providing a professional RI designation, based on meeting standards of industry education and experience. |

What is an RI designation?

An RI designation is awarded to real estate professionals who have met a variety of educational and experience requirements as set out by REIBC. The application for Professional membership sets out the requirements. Once you qualify as a Professional member, you also become an RI. |

Do you offer real estate industry courses, certifications or licenses?

No. REIBC does not offer any academic courses leading to degrees, certifications, or licenses. However, it does provide a variety of professional development seminars and events for our members and the general public. If you would like information concerning realtor licensing, please contact the Real Estate Council at 604-683-9664. |

Can I become a member without completing the requirements for Professional membership?

Yes. Associate and Student memberships are available to those interested in the real estate industry and who qualify under these categories. These members have access to all REIBC resources and events, but cannot use the RI designation, and may not vote or hold office. |

Can I become a Student member if I am not enrolled in an REIBC recognized educational program?

No. You can apply for Associate membership, which offers access to all REIBC resources and events, but does not offer the RI designation, voting or office-holding privileges. |

I was a professional member but have retired. Can I remain a member?

Yes. Professional members can transfer their membership to Retired status with no registration fee. Retired status applies to individuals over 55 years of age who have completely retired from the real estate industry. Retired individuals who wish to become first time members can apply for the Associate membership |
