REIBC Events

Effecting Change Within Neighbourhoods     
Join your fellow REIBC and AIC members at this REIBC Yale Chapter and AIC Okanagan Chapter event on June 11th in Kelowna. John Perrott, Executive Director, Downtown Kelowna Association, will speak about the changes downtown Kelowna has seen over the past few years and what and how the Association is effecting change within the neighbourhood. REIBC AGM & Dinner      
All REIBC members are invited to attend the AGM, reception and dinner in Vancouver on June 19th. Professional members, in particular, are encouraged to attend the AGM and vote on proposed changes to Institute bylaws. The Standards and Practice Task Force was established last summer to review the current bylaws and recommend changes. Professional members will be able to vote on the changes either in person at the AGM, which takes place in Vancouver on June 19th, or by proxy. The University Heights Neighbourhood Plan
This REIBC Cariboo Chapter event takes place June 25th in Prince George and is free to chapter members. The University Heights Neighbourhood Plan is a comprehensive planning document that is intended to guide development within a 674 hectare area in the fastest growing sector of Prince George.  The document integrates the Official Community Plan, the Trails Master Plan, Smart Growth principles, Winter Cities, and Healthy Communities Design Guidelines. REIBC 15th Annual Charity Golf Tournament
This popular event, which takes place June 25th at the Northview Golf and Country Club in Surrey, is again sold out! The golf committee thanks everyone who supports this event. Money raised goes to Make-a-Wish Foundation.

2009 BC Land Summit 
The BC Land Summit is inviting a wide range of diverse proposals for presentations, papers, multi-media proposals, and other program elements related to the conference theme and sub-themes. The summit takes place May 20 - 22, 2009, in Whistler. Conference partners are REIBC, BC Association of the Appraisal Institute of Canada, BC Institute of Agrologists, BC Society of Landscape Architects, Land Trust Alliance of BC and the Planning Institute of BC. The theme is A Better Future: Adapting to Change, which recognizes the many different processes of change – from the global to the local – affecting land, land-use, and communities’ relationship with the land.

Open Houses: Metro Core Jobs and Economy Land Use Plan
The City of Vancouver is undertaking the Metro Core Jobs and Economy Land Use Plan to ensure there is enough development and transportation capacity to accommodate future job growth and economic activity in the metropolitan core. The study has developed proposed changes to policy and zoning for the areas shown in the map below. The City of Vancouver is hosting a series of public open houses to present these proposed changes and to hear your ideas. For more information, click here.

Green Shores Coastal Development Rating System Pilot Release
The Green Shores project promotes more sustainable use of coastal ecosystems through planning and design that recognizes ecological features and functions. After years of development and peer review the coastal development ratings document is out and Green Shores is looking for six pilot projects to test the credits on. More information can be found at http://www.greenshores.ca/. Speakers at the June 23rd event in Vancouver will include Thomas Mueller, President of the Canadian Green Building Council, Tim Pringle, Real Estate Foundation on Green Value and Christina Burridge, Exec. Director of the BC Seafood Alliance.

Real Estate Capital Markets after the Credit Crisis
The UBC Centre for Urban Economics and Real Estate at the Sauder School of Business is presenting this event on June 25th in Vancouver. The roundtable will consist of presentations and a panel discussion by three of the world’s experts on real estate finance. Audited Financial Statements
The Audited Financial Statements will be posted on the REIBC website (under Downloads in the Members' Only section) within a week. A notice will be emailed to REIBC members at that time.
