Qualifications

To qualify as a Professional member you must be a Canadian citizen or a landed immigrant at least 21 years of age and have one of the following minimum educational credentials: 

  • B. Comm. with a major in Urban Land Economics
    from UBC       
        
  • Urban Land Economics Diploma from UBC    
  • Bachelor of Business in Real Estate from UBC          
  • Commercial Real Estate Studies Diploma from 
    BCIT       
        
  • AACI (Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute)
    in good standing       
        
  • Membership in the Royal Institution of Chartered
    Surveyors (RICS) with the General Practice or 
    Planning Option       
        
  • Diploma from previously offered Langara College Real Estate Studies Program

In addition, you must also be employed full-time in the real estate profession for a minimum of three of the four years before the date of application.

To apply for Professional membership, click the application form button below and complete the application form and pay the application fee.

Your completed application, submitted with the non-refundable application fee, will be reviewed. You will then be interviewed by a member of the Board of Governors, who makes a recommendation to the Admittance and Membership Committee. The committee reviews the application and makes its recommendation to the remaining Board of Governors. Upon payment of the pro-rated annual membership fee, successful applicants are entitled to use the RI designation.

Membership Fees

Non-refundable application fee — $100 (plus GST)

Annual Professional membership fee — $405.00 (plus GST)

Note: Annual membership is from April 1 through March 31 of the following year. Fees are pro-rated after October.
