Meet A Member
Meet Trudy Carbonneau, RI
I began my career in real estate as a conveyancing secretary in the lower mainland. As life moved me across the Province, I attended the College of the Rockies and obtained a Business Administration (Accounting Major) Diploma.
In 2003 I started with BC Assessment on the Admin Team. Soon after I started the series of appraisal courses and graduated with a Diploma in Urban Land Economics and in 2010 received my RI designation. I currently work in the Cranbrook office of BC Assessment on the IC & I and Strata Team.
I recently enjoyed a trip to Maui with family only to return to mountains of snow in Kimberley. Talk about one extreme to the next!
Among many things, I enjoy hiking, camping, cooking and spending time with my family and friends.
Meet Larry Serko, RI
I started my career in 1986 as a Residential Appraiser in Vancouver working with Rescan Properties while going to school at Langara College. In 1987, I finished school for the educational requirement for the AACI designation and was hired by Kent MacPherson Appraisals where I articled and worked as a Residential and Commercial Appraiser. I focused on partial takings and Right-of-Way work. I became an RI in 1991 and in 1994, I opened my own firm Serko Property Services where I specialized in Real Estate development and Right-of-Way acquisitions/negotiations.
In 2009, I took a position with BC Hydro, as a Senior Property Representative, based out of Vernon. Currently, I am the work leader in my department, the work is vast and varied as we manage BC Hydro Right-of-Ways. I am typically acquiring Rights and dealing with ongoing property issues, developments and approvals. I believe that the RI designation is a prestigious designation and a necessity to have with the work I do.
I love negotiating and dealing with most aspects of real estate. My job is challenging, demanding and fulfilling, with no two days being the same. BC Hydro is a great company to work for, and I feel that I have the responsibility to represent the Crown Corporation in a respectful and professional manner.
When I’m not working, I spend as much time as I can with my wife Wendy and our two children, Tasia and Landon, plus our dog Bella. Given the choice, we enjoy family time with friends and extended family at our cabin on Okanagan Lake. We are an active family with many interests ranging from most water sports to travelling to destinations with warmer climates. My personal hobby is classic cars. I have a 1971 429SCJ Mach1, which I have spent countless hours rebuilding, which I now take to local car shows.
