Reconciliation Lunch & Learn – February 17, 2022
On February 17, 2022 REIBC hosted a Reconciliation Lunch & Learn with Shelley Joseph. Shelley shared her life and her story and she believes that awareness and action plans for change can sway the disparity in our societies. It was an honest, informative session and from the feedback received from the registrants it was an extremely helpful session on how we can make change to move forward with Reconciliation. Each of us can do something.
If you want more information or have Shelley speak to your group you can find her at shelley@ladderstokindness.com
Indigenous History: Becoming an Ally – February 24, 2022
On February 24, 2022 Teresa Edwards from Legacy of Hope in Ottawa joined us to discuss how each of us can become an ally. Teresa talked about residential schools and it will be seven generations moving forward before we get where we need to be. Dispelling the myths is one of the steps each of us can take. We can start with just asking a question such as when something gets said that is racist or untrue, you can ask “are you sure about that?” Education is the key and we can continue to move forward.
REIBC has put a number of resource items on our webpage that were sent from Legacy of Hope and they can be found here.
