RI Designation

The past two years has seen a stable membership as more real estate professionals are looking to become RI designated. Most recently, a new member shared with us that the reason she decided to obtain her RI was because she saw the RI designation in a colleagues email signature. After having researched the Institute she found that it was a perfect place to meet like-minded professionals in the industry.

The REIBC is excited for this feedback as Board and staff continue to work diligently to promote the RI designation to the public, with an end goal of having employers as well as clients and consumers looking to RI designated professionals for all of their real estate needs.

This is a great reminder for RI designated professionals to utilize this designation in their email signatures, business cards, marketing, and website bios'. The RI denotes you as designated, educated, experienced and connected!

Meet Jennifer Jangula Clow, Student Member

Jennifer_Jangula_Clow.jpgAfter completing my Bachelor of Arts at UBC in 2014, I immediately began work at Surrey City Development Corporation (SCDC). I worked in multiple roles throughout my two and a half years with SCDC, but ended my time with them as a Development Coordinator. Through this role I found a new passion for development, especially industrial land development. I had the opportunity to work on many projects, most notably the Campbell Heights North Business Park. I also assisted the Director, Development & Planning and the entire development team with market research, reporting and analysis. I was given the opportunity to begin my career in development at SCDC and learn from many talented individuals.

In early February, I will begin working as an Industrial Development Coordinator for the Beedie Development Group. I look forward to this next chapter of my career and to continue working through my Diploma of Urban Land Economics at UBC.

2016 marked an exciting year for me as I got married and traveled throughout Thailand. I love to travel and explore new cities and cuisines, and I am currently planning a trip to Italy.  I am excited to see what 2017 has in store.

Meet Tyler Beatty, RI

Typer_Beatty_Nov_2014_-_Cropped.jpgI am currently an Assessment and Property Policy Advisor with the Assessment Services Branch of Alberta Municipal Affairs. In my current role I offer policy advice to the government on matters relating to the Municipal Government Act of Alberta and associated regulations, property assessment and taxation, and market value principles. Additionally, I provide policy and valuation advisory services to both municipalities and assessors across the province and answer inquiries from the general public in regards to property assessment and taxation in Alberta.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Political Science, and History from UBC Okanagan as well as a Diploma in Urban Land Economics from UBC Sauder School of Business. Prior to joining the Government of Alberta I was an appraiser with BC Assessment for 7 years in the Okanagan office.

My long-term goal is to become a senior manager or director of an assessment organization, the designated assessor for a municipality, or to offer contract policy and valuation advisory services to governments and/or valuation firms across Western Canada.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my wife and two kids, golfing, curling, and watching my former home team, the Kelowna Rockets, beat the Edmonton Oil Kings.

Meet Wayne Lee, RI

Wayne_Lee_Photo.jpgI started in the real estate commercial property management industry in 1984 and never thought that after 32 years, I'd continue to grow and learn! Throughout my career I’ve worked with local and national real estate companies both on the owner/manager side and in third party management. I’ve had the privilege of working with some great people who have been mentors and coaches to me. In turn, this has allowed me to mentor and coach my peers to elevate and promote their careers.

My current role with the Gulf Pacific Group has given me the opportunity to once again lead and also to become familiar with the growing sector of First Nations clients and their property management requirements. The importance of relationships and respect for culture are not new concepts, but it is a nice change of pace when these come before revenue and profits.

Growing up, my family had started and continues to be in the real estate investment world. My wife, son and daughter have also been involved in maintaining and renovating some of our investment opportunities.

My commitment to the industry is demonstrated by my tenure and my association with organizations such as the RI.

We are pleased to be a part of the Make-A-Wish family and look forward to helping them grant even more wishes this year!  The 24th Annual REIBC Charity Golf Tournament benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of BC & Yukon will take place on June 21,2017 at the Richmond Country Club.
