We would like to introduce new RI:

Wylen Wong, RI

I started my Real Estate career as a co-op student at the Department of Public Works and Government Services with the Federal Government back in 2003.  After various roles in the accommodation management and leasing departments at the Federal Government, I moved on to a senior manager role with Fraser Health Authority’s real estate division. In this role, my team looked after the real estate and leasing needs for the four major health authorities (Fraser Health, Vancouver Coastal, Providence Health and Provincial Health Services Agency) in the lower mainland.

I’m currently a Manager in the Real Estate department for Vancouver Fraser Port Authority.  My team primarily is responsible for looks after our terminal portfolio that stretches between 16 jurisdictions in Metro Vancouver – everything from major import/export terminals to Canada Place to residential docks!

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is such an interesting place.  Until I started working here, I had no idea the impact and influence the Port of Vancouver – Canada’s largest port – had on facilitating Canada’s trade.  My role has a variety of responsibilities related to the real estate needs and land strategies associated with trade across all sectors.  Additionally, there is a strong focus on environmental sustainability and giving back to local communities.   The views from our office at Canada Place are pretty nice too!

I’m originally born in Hong Kong and immigrated to Vancouver with my family in 1989.  I enjoy lots of outdoor activities with my wife and two young kids, and travelling to experience different cultures and food.  In my spare time, I also stay active playing a variety of sports and am an avid volleyball coach.

REIBC Past-President Daniel John has recently joined the BCIT School of Business and Media – Marketing Management team as their new Program Head of Professional Real Estate. 

“One of the greatest honours of my life is to be able to go back and teach at BCIT, the institution that taught me how to be successful in real estate and in business.

The Marketing Management team has been extremely welcoming to me.  The entire team has an unparalleled passion for teaching, are all experts in each of their industries, and strive to ensure that students are successful in their careers.”

Daniel holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Diploma in Marketing Management – Commercial Real Estate both from BCIT.  Daniel has held his RI designation since 2012.

REIBC would like to introduce you to the Executive of BCITREA (BCIT Real Estate Association). These people have stepped up to look after extra activities that can be done for the class. One of those events is the REIBC Meet The Pros. We are pleased to present the Executive Team:

Sean Gartland, President:

Equipped with a Bachelor of Commerce from Ryerson University, Sean is excited to be pursuing a career in Commercial Real Estate in Vancouver. With a passion for Commercial Real Estate and the processes associated with it, Sean is eager to enter the industry when he graduates from the Professional Real Estate Program at BCIT in December. With previous experience as a procurement intern for KraftHeinz in Amsterdam, he enjoys meeting and developing relationships with a multitude of different people, all while delivering results. In his spare time he is an avid snowboarder in the winter, and golfer in the warmer months.

 

Rhys Cameron, VP of Marketing:

With a passion for real estate and marketing, Rhys is currently enrolled in the Professional Real Estate program at BCIT. After completing one intensive year in the Marketing Management program at BCIT, Rhys decided to shift his focus to the world of real estate. Having an up close and personal view on what it takes to run a business, Rhys’ family runs a manufacturing company where he has learned effective business systems and sales. In addition, Rhys successfully completed his HVAC level one apprenticeship certification as he originally planned to pursue firefighting. Rhys has his goals set on working in commercial real estate in Vancouver, however, he still has a high interest in the real estate development field for home land assembly or mixed use buildings. In his spare time he enjoys living a healthy lifestyle by getting outside as much as possible and playing golf with friends.

Etienne Lemiuex, VP of Finance:

Etienne has always been passionate about Real estate, property characteristics and valuation. His background in construction and property management is what made him decide to get fully involved in Real Estate. He is constantly looking to connect with people working in the Real Estate industry and learning from their experience. He mostly enjoys creating personal relationships and believes that his hard working aptitude will help him achieve his goals.

He loves the outdoors, fitness, sports and financial trading. Please don’t hesitate to contact to him, as he would love to connect with you.

 

 

Cameron Abram, VP of Events:

Cameron is passionate about real estate, finance and marketing; excelling where the three intersect. He delivers value by leveraging experience in property management, consulting and sales to support the development and marketing of real estate. The first ten years of his career was as a Property Manager, giving him the opportunity to purchase, develop and manage five residential properties and one commercial property. After completing a finance degree at UBC, he gained experience in Consulting for Accenture, implementing technology solutions for multinational Oil and Gas clients in Calgary. Next came three years of sales experience with SAP in Vancouver, and the completion of Level One of the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Throughout his career he remained invested in and attracted to a career in real estate. Now he’s looking to connect with industry professionals to find the right fit for his skills, interests and experience in Real Estate. Outside of work Cameron is an avid rock climber and lover of the outdoors.

Dyllan Quon, VP of Events:

Dyllan is currently pursuing his lifelong passion for real estate through the Professional Real Estate Advanced Diploma program at BCIT. Within the next year, he plans on breaking into Vancouver’s real estate development industry as a market analyst, development coordinator, or similar role.  Previously, Dyllan has experience as a sales associate in the logistics industry, in addition to earning his Communications degree from Simon Fraser University. In his spare time, Dyllan likes to enjoy outdoor activities, play on recreational sports teams, and spend time with friends and family.
