Meet Kim Johansen, RI

Kim_Johansen.JPGI was born and raised on Vancouver Island where I attended Vancouver Island University.  I started my education path in criminology but that soon ended after I had an opportunity to  job shadow a local fee appraiser. It was then, at age 20 that I realized I had a passion for real estate and decided to commence my courses through UBC’s Sauder School of Business.

For the past 11 years I have been appraising property for BC Assessment including urban/rural residential, strata and stratified apartments. My current rural portfolio includes small communities, acreages, lake/river/oceanfront, properties that fall within the ALR, and some unique property types such as stilt homes.  It has been a positive and fulfilling career interacting with our internal/external clients and being actively involved in the real estate market.

When I’m not engaged in my role as an appraiser I’m fulfilling my other full time job as a (hockey) mom of 2 busy boys, ages 7 and 4!  I also regularly play in an indoor/beach volleyball league and I’m usually trying one new additional sport which is currently lacrosse.  As a family we enjoy travelling, camping, days on the mountain or whatever adventure calls our name!

I look forward to my involvement with the REIBC and seeing how our real estate market evolves in the future.
