Mayor Gray has been on City council for 17 of the last 28 years - 12 of those as Mayor. During his tenure as a Civic politician he has been a great advocate for things such as; transit, urban growth, being “open for business”, expansion of our international airport and most recently the acquisition of the CN Rail corridor which will connect the communities of the Okanagan valley. Through his vision, leadership and strong relationships with the Provincial, Federal and First Nations governments the City of Kelowna and the Regional District of the Central Okanagan have become a driving force in the Province.
Prior to and during his tenure as Mayor, Councilor and Regional District Board Member he has managed to build a number of successful radio stations, lead and participate on private and not for profit Boards and find a way to spend time with his growing extended family (12 grandchildren). His list of accomplishments and board participation is endless however it includes; Director - BC Transit, Board member - Fortis BC, Director - Okanagan Film Commission, a member of the Premier’s Task Force on Homelessness, Mental Illness & Additions and president of the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce.
Mayor Gray is always an entertaining speaker, with personal stories that relate to many of the significant events and milestones that mark the recent history of Kelowna and the Okanagan region. He has always had a keen eye for investment and the ever changing world of real estate in the Okanagan Valley. His stories will provide the audience with a glimpse of the past, present and future of our region, dating back to 1946, when he moved to Kelowna.
