 Mona Murray2019_Newsletter/Mona_Murray.jpg

Mona completed her Urban Land Economics in 1983 and became licensed as a Managing Broker for her own property management firm in Kamloops, BC. Their portfolio included residential, strata and commercial properties. She sold the company after 25 years and started a new firm specializing in sales, leasing and management of commercial real estate. Mona joined Colliers International in 2017 to continue working as a commercial real estate broker for leasing and sales activities for office, retail, development land and industrial properties. Mona finds this sector of the industry to be challenging but allows her to work with a variety of clients – small businesses, national firms, investors and large corporations. Her background in property management and over 35 years of experience has gained her a loyal following of clients. Mona has enjoyed her membership in the Real Estate Institute, having made valuable professional associations and longtime friendships. For the past several years she has volunteered on a nonprofit board that focuses on providing affordable housing for seniors and persons with development disabilities. Mona enjoys her career, her life with her family and time spent travelling our beautiful province in her motor-home.

REIBC News

2019_Newsletter/September_19.jpgThere was a good turn out of interested participants in Kelowna on September 19th to listen to Renee Merrifield Wasylyk.  Renee is a leader and entrepreneur who lives in the Okanagan.  She is passionate about urban planning, health, water conservation and use, women in leadership, eradicating child poverty and when she is not advocating for these causes she is busy with her company developing and building new homes in Kelowna and Alberta.

Renee talked about how she developed herself to take on these roles, starting with many years of education including a masters degree and then how she gained experience through the school of hard knocks. Renee described both her successes and challenges navigating through the ups and downs of the real estate markets of the last 20 years.

Renee's story was interesting and interactive with many questions coming the audience about what her thoughts are for the future. Her warmth and willingness to share her ideas made for a great afternoon luncheon event.
