Jeffrey C. Mayes , a reporter for the NY Times shared a story about a hedge fund billionaire from the United States who added to his real estate portfolio by closing on a $238 million apartment in Central Park South, NY, the most expensive home in the United States by more than a $100 million. He called it "a stark reminder that when wealthy buyers like Mr. Griffin purchase expensive apartments as second homes or investments, New York City and the state get less financial benefits."
