A Message from your President - Jon Burbee, RI
As we look ahead to an exciting new chapter for the Real Estate Institute of British Columbia, I’m pleased to share an important leadership announcement with our members. I’m delighted to announce that Tamara Da Silveira has been appointed Executive Director of REIBC, effective September 14, 2026.
With a finance background spanning more than two decades with RBC Dominion Securities, Tamara brings extensive experience in relationship management, business operations, and building strong professional connections. During her time at REIBC, she has also been the visionary behind many of the Institute’s events and initiatives.
On behalf of the Board of Governors and the Executive Director Search Committee, I want to congratulate Tamara Da Silveira on her appointment. Tamara’s work leading member services and delivering memorable industry events has been superb. Throughout the recruitment process, Tamara has shown she has the skills and vision to deliver the current and future needs of the organization. Many thanks to Chris Hamade for his many achievements during his term and I wish him the best in future endeavours.
Tamara has worked closely with her predecessor, Executive Director Chris Hamade, whom she considers a valued mentor. As part of the transition, Tamara and Chris will serve alongside one another as Co-Executive Directors through the end of October, ensuring continuity and a seamless transition for the Institute.
Beyond REIBC, Tamara volunteers her time each year with a charity dedicated to supporting cancer research. Outside the office, she is an avid crib player, enjoys Zumba, and loves spending time with her dog, Willow.
REIBC welcomes Tamara into the Executive Director role and looks forward to the enthusiasm, creativity, and vision she will bring to the next chapter.
