JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties:
This role reports to the Manager, Acquisitions and Sales, and is accountable for supporting and executing property acquisitions for BC Hydro’s capital projects and the disposition of properties in BC Hydro’s Surplus Properties Sales program.
* In collaboration with Manager and team, develop and communicate strategic advice and business solutions for property acquisitions and dispositions (temporary agreements, partial takings, statutory rights of way, fee simple)
* Manage, navigate, and execute a portfolio of complex property transactions to support BC Hydro’s plans and goals.
* Participate and collaborate on BC Hydro project teams.
* Develop and improve business processes and standards for property acquisitions and dispositions.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders (private landowners, municipalities, and government agencies).
* Lead the timely and strategic forecasting of BC Hydro’s Surplus Properties Sales Program.
* Create and maintain a single database of all BC Hydro’s surplus properties that can be shared efficiently with internal and external stakeholders.
* Lead and develop Requests for Proposal for external service providers such as contractors and appraisal services.
* Assist with mentoring team members.
Qualifications / Required Skills
* Post Secondary degree in a relevant discipline such as Business, Urban Land Economics.
* Professional designation such as AACI, RI, MRICS, SR/WA, PMP is an asset.
* Proven track record executing large scope, complex real estate related transactions.
* 8+ years progressive and well-rounded real estate and business experience.
* Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiating, writing, planning, organizing, problem solving and project management skills.
* Cross-functional experience with the ability to leverage strong relationships across BC Hydro’s business groups to achieve business objectives.
* Well-rounded knowledge and experience with business processes, budgets, forecasting, legal documents, and project management techniques.
* Highly driven to advance and deliver on multiple files.
* Strong leadership skills, consistently leading by example.

Flexible work model role definitions
===========================
Our four role types identify the degree of flexibility an employee could have to work from home based on the type of work they do. The flexibility for an individual job is up to the manager for each position and the operational requirements. Employees also have the right to work full-time from the office if they prefer. All of our roles require at least some in-person time.
IBEW/Field – No option to work from home
Resident – Works primarily (4+ days per week) in the office.
Hybrid – May be able to work from home up to 3 days per week.
Remote – Works from home 4+ days per week
