Given Coquitlam’s growth and the City’s active land development initiatives on Burke Mountain, the Real Estate group is looking to add a new regular full-time Property Valuator - Negotiator to its team of professionals. The Real Estate group forms part of the City Lands Division within the Strategic Initiatives Department and is responsible for negotiating and managing a wide range of complex property agreements, providing property valuation advice and assisting with the formulation and execution of strategies required for optimizing and enhancing the value of the City’s land assets.
Reporting to the Manager Real Estate, you will handle complex real property appraisals, negotiation and advisory work in the inspection, valuation and negotiation of real property for acquisition, rental, expropriation, sale, lease, statutory right of way, exchange or other purposes. You will also inspect properties, conduct research, and review legal documents & agreements for the purpose of acquisition, land development or disposal. In addition, the incumbent can be expected to perform a variety of property management duties for City owned properties as well as negotiate with a diverse group of stakeholders and/or external customers on different issues. The work is performed with considerable independence of judgement and action.
You possess a degree or diploma from an accredited college or university in Urban Land Economics or related discipline combined with the completion of course work through the Appraisal Institute of Canada, International Right of Way Association, Real Estate Institute BC or other related field, proven experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of experience and training. You also possess sound knowledge of the rules, regulations and bylaws relative to subdivision control, zoning, building and other legislation affecting real property. Along with possessing excellent oral and written communications skills, you are a team player with a collaborative approach adept at building relationships.
A valid BC Driver’s License and Certification with the Appraisal Institute of Canada or an equivalent organization are required.
A CUPE hourly rate range of $41.29- $48.78, a competitive benefits package, and an earned day off program is being offered.
