Job Description / Duties

The Strategic and Corporate Services Department requires a regular full-time Property Valuator – Negotiator.

Reporting to the Manager, Real Estate you will work in a fast paced environment managing the City’s Real Estate interests. You will perform negotiation and appraisal work, and make recommendations related to the sale, license, lease, acquisition, and development of real property for the City. You will also conduct field investigations of properties, be responsible for property management and record keeping of City real estate interests, and participate in interdepartmental projects. In addition, you will conduct research and interpret Real Estate agreements and legislation, and prepare Council reports related to property matters, requests for proposals, requests for expressions of interest, and other public documents.

Qualifications / Required Skills

You will have post-secondary education in a related discipline along with several years of experience with property appraisal, negotiation and real estate contracts, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of real estate agreements including licenses, leases, statutory rights of way, and covenants as well as and legislation, including the Residential Tenancy Act, Community Charter, Zoning Bylaw, Density Bonus and Community Benefits policy is required. Professional membership with the Appraisal Institute of Canada or equivalent would be an asset. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency with MS Office applications, and a valid class 5 BC Driver’s License, are also required.

Additional Information

Hours of Work:
The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.

Salary: $39.50 to $46.64 per hour (Pay Grade 25 – January 2021 rates)
