Two regular, full time positions are currently available. These positions are based in Victoria, BC; however, other BC Parks office locations may be considered for one of the positions, subject to Ministry operational requirements.

Senior Lands Officer
$66,557.72 - $75,884.38 annually

BC Parks is responsible for the management of one of the largest protected area systems in North America, encompassing 1,037 provincial parks, recreation areas, conservancies and ecological reserves, and ensuring their world-class conservation, outdoor recreation, and cultural heritage values are protected for generations to come.

The Senior Lands Officer is responsible for managing all aspects of land administration for BC Parks. This includes developing and implementing administrative policies, procedures and systems to ensure consistent and efficient decision-making regarding Crown land administration and management and conducting complex research related to Crown and private land to identify rights, tenures, restrictions and other encumbrances. This position also provides research and recommendations to resolve land administration issues and implements decisions. The Senior Lands Officer provides input and support to land acquisitions, dispositions, lease agreements covenants and similar agreements with land owners.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Qualifications for this role include:

• Undergraduate degree in Planning, Natural Resource Management, Geography, Public Administration, Law, Real Estate or other relevant discipline.
• Experience with Crown and private land information systems, natural resource statutes, and the Province’s land management policies.
• Experience researching policy and conducting policy analysis on land acquisition and land administration issues.
• Experience managing projects and/or project teams.
• Preference may be given to applicants with one or both of the following:
o minimum of two years’ experience related to the management and administration of Crown land; and/or,
o experience in procuring and managing service contracts.
