Join us for an enlightening conversation with Stephanie Allen, Mandy Hansen and Jennifer Johnstone as they discuss the value, risk and return of building inclusive communities. This conversation will offer a different perspective of dealing with the issues of real estate development and affordability and shine a light on how these organizations contribute to building sustainable vibrant cities. How they do it, why they do it and who they do it for!
Stephanie Allen, Catalyst Community Developments Society
Stephanie Allen is Vice President Project Planning and Partnerships at Catalyst Community Developments Society, a not-for-profit real estate developer. Her career in real estate development began in 2002 and spans the private, government, and non-profit sectors. Stephanie holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, is a certified Project Management Professional, and is currently completing her master’s degree in Urban Studies at Simon Fraser University. She serves on the City of Vancouver’s Development Permit Advisory Panel and is on the board of the Hogan’s Alley Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to redressing the systemic displacement that occurred to Vancouver’s former Black neighbourhood. Stephanie is committed to building cities that are equitable, inclusive and rich in opportunities and solutions that last for generations.

Mandy Hansen, Insight Specialty Consulting
Mandy Hansen is the Principal at Insight Specialty Consulting, a boutique consulting firm specializing in real estate strategy and project management. In a career spanning almost 20 years, she has worked with governments, private sector, and non-profit enterprises to structure and manage large scale transformations and real estate projects. She proudly carries her RI designation, as well as her PMP. She has earned her DULE, a Bachelor of Business in Real Estate, and a MSc in Public Administration and Development. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Social Sciences, studying public economics.
Jennifer Johnstone, Central City Foundation
Jennifer Johnstone is President & CEO of Central City Foundation, an organization that has been working to improve lives in Vancouver’s inner-city since 1907. Today, CCF is a $40 million foundation with 40% of its capital invested in innovative, sustainable social purpose real estate properties that provide low income housing, integrated family services and early childhood development, healthcare including BC’s only rural long-term treatment centre for youth challenged by addiction, youth services and social enterprise. Jennifer’s background is in non-profit management and community resource development and over the past 30 years she has held key leadership positions with organizations including Vancity Community Foundation, Battered Women’s Support Services, Vancouver Status of Women, and Ballet British Columbia. Jennifer is a founding member of the Social Purpose Real Estate Collaborative, sits on the national Board of the Association Fundraising Professionals and serves as a volunteer Board member for several local organizations.
