The REIBC is visiting Parksville, B.C. on Wednesday October 1st, 2014 at the beautiful Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort and Conference Centre at 1155 Resort Drive, Parksville B.C.

This will be an excellent opportunity to gain insight on growth, economy, and development in Parksville and the surrounding areas while mingling with your peers. Breakfast and lunch will be included.

Parksville Mayor Chris Burger:

MAYOR-Chris-Burger.jpgMayor Burger was first elected to City of Parksville Council in 2002, serving as Councilor for three terms. He was elected Mayor of Parksville in November 2011, following one year as acting Mayor. His political career began in 1996 when he was elected to Qualicum Beach Council (still the youngest Councilor to have served in Qualicum Beach) where he served one term before moving to Parksville about ten years ago.  Mayor Burger is also very involved with the community as a voting member of the Englishman River Water Services Management Board, a voting member of the Municipal Insurance Association of BC, alternative directory on the Regional District of Nanaimo Board of Directors, sits on the City of Parksville Audit Committee and serves as a City Liaison to the Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Reserve. He  is also a small business owner in Dashwood (North Qualicum area)



 Kim Burden, Executive Director of Parksville & District Chamber of Commerce:

kim_burden.jpgMr. Burden has spent 30 years owning and operating a variety of businesses. He has been a member of the Parksvile & District Chamber of Commerce since 2002 and had seven years' experience with the Chamber Board before moving over to the Executive Director's position. Kim is very involved with the Oceanside Community and has served as a Board member with several local groups including the Oceanside Development and Construction Association, the Parksville & District Historical Society, Pacific Sport Vancouver Island, Canadian Sport Centre Pacific, The Parksville Garden and Parkland Society, The Oceanside Generals, The Parksville Beachfest Society and the Rotary Club of Parksville.



George Hanson, M.Sc., CHRP - President of the Vancouver Island Economic Alliance:

george_hanson.jpgGeorge is well known for his achievements in community, organizational, property and economic development on Vancouver Island. He has consulted for corporations, community organizations, district, municipal, provincial and federal governments. George led the comprehensive urban renewal project in downtown Nanaimo to considerable, award-winning success - attracting hundreds of millions in business and redevelopment investment while helping guide design policy. He served as President of the Business Improvements Areas of British Columbia for two terms: served on the Oceanside Development and Construction Association Board; was Development Manager for InSight Developments; assisted United way of Central & Northern Vancouver Island, Habitat for Humnaity and Nanaimo Hospice Society with property acquisitions; and is a founding member and a former Chair of YES Nanamio. George is the Strategic & Grants Director for the Nanaimo Foundation, Managing Partner of Clayton Consulting.
