BCREA CEO, Darlene Hyde and Vice President of Government Relations and Stakeholder Engagement, Trevor Hargreaves will speak to the paper presented to Government which proposes evidence-based solutions to enhance consumer protection for  buyers and sellers of residential property in BC. BCREA will discuss the 34 recommendations outlined in their paper which focus on four themes: housing supply, changes to the real estate transaction framework, enhancing consumer protections and stakeholder engagement. She previously served as the Executive Director of the Commercial Real Estate Development Association of Metro Vancouver, the Executive Vice President for the New Car Dealers Association of BC, and Senior Vice President of ICBC. Darlene is also former Chair of the Insurance Council of BC, Past Chair of the Customer Compensation Committee of the Motor Vehicle Sales Authority, Past Chair of the Westminster Savings Credit Union, Chair of the Governance Committee for Stabilization Central Credit Union, and Chair of the McGill Women in Leadership and Philanthropy Chapter for Vancouver.

Trevor has brought a wealth of knowledge to BCREA’s Government Relations and Communications departments, with wide-ranging experience in public relations, advocacy and strategic communications. Trevor has taken a proactive approach to asserting BCREA’s policy positions, getting ahead of issues affecting REALTORS® and real estate in BC.

Trevor also works as an Adjunct Professor of Communications at the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia. Prior to joining BCREA, Trevor was the Director of Communications, Government and Public Relations at the BC Dairy Association, where he represented dairy farmers across BC and advocated with all levels of government, media, special interest groups and other industry associations.
