Drawing comparisons to Vancouver’s globa lly recognized planning model, this conversation will explore how large- scale vision, policy, and market forces intersect across continents.\n\n Attendees—from developers and planners to real estate professionals an d legal experts—will gain valuable perspective on how global best prac tices can inform the future of development in British Columbia.\n\nFeatu red Speakers\n\nLarry Beasley City Planner\n\nLarry Beasley is the reti red Distinguished Practice Professor of Planning at the University of Br itish Columbia and founding principal of Beasley and Associates, an inte rnational planning consultancy. He gained global recognition as Co-Direc tor of Planning for the City of Vancouver. Over a 30-year civic career, he led land use and transportation planning, development approvals, and the transformation of Vancouver’s inner city. His work included neighb ourhood revitalization, heritage preservation, and advancing Vancouver†™s internationally recognized urban design model. He now advises governm ents and the private sector worldwide. His international roles have incl uded advising the cities of Dallas and Rotterdam, serving on the boards of Ottawa’s National Capital Commission, Translink in Vancouver, and t he Green Line Transit in Calgary, and acting as Special Advisor on City Planning to the Government of Abu Dhabi.\n\nMr. Beasley has also held se nior roles with Aquilini Development. He holds degrees in geography, pol itical science, and planning, and has received honorary doctorates from Simon Fraser University and Dalhousie University.\n\nA Member of the Ord er of Canada, he is also a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Planners and recipient of the prestigious Kevin Lynch Prize from MIT.\n\nMichael White Senior Urban Planner\n\nMichael White is the associate vice-presi dent of Campus and Community Planning at the University of British Colum bia. He is an urban planning professional with decades of experience in North America, the Middle East, and Asia. He specializes in strategic pl anning, major project implementation, transportation planning, partnersh ip agreements, and community engagement. Michael was the senior Canadian stationed in Abu Dhabi for the five-year Canadian planning initiative.\ n\nFollowing his work in Abu Dhabi, Michael served as a Principal at AEC OM Canada, delivering projects across Canada and internationally.
