Alex Messina Appointed REIBC Governor Congratulations to Alex Messina on being appointed governor. Alex is an Analyst with Altus Group's Research, Valuation, & Advisory Division in Vancouver. Before joining the Altus Group, he worked with the UBC Real Estate Division as a Real Estate Course Specialist. He has been a professional member of the Real Estate Institute of British Columbia since November, 2007. Alex will be serving as Chair, Member Services. Robert (Bob) Mikitka Memorial Endowment REIBC is honoured to announce the Real Estate Institute of BC, Robert (Bob) Mikitka Memorial Endowment. This endowment for the BCIT Foundation is made in memory of Honourary Member Bob Mikitka, who left us on October 16, 2008. Contributions can now be made on-line at http://www.bcit.ca/foundation/giving/donate.shtml or by cheque. If you wish to donate by cheque, please make the cheque payable to the BCIT Foundation at the address below, with a note stating that the gift should be added to the Real Estate Institute of BC, Robert (Bob) Mikitka Memorial Endowment. BCIT Foundation 3700 Willingdon Avenue Burnaby, BC V5G 3H2 Interviews for all REIBC Membership Applicants Beginning in January 2009, all membership applicants will go through our interview process upon becoming accepted as REIBC members. Prospective members will have their application sent to a Governor of the Board who will then interview the applicant and make recommendation to the entire Board of Governors. Smart Growth BC Announces New Executive Director The Board of Directors of Smart Growth BC recently announced the appointment of the organization's new Executive Director, Cam Brewer, a well-known and respected leader in the green building and sustainability field. Mr. Brewer replaces Cheeying Ho, the founding Executive Director of Smart Growth BC, who moves to a new position as Executive Director of the Whistler Centre for Sustainability. Cam will take up his new position at Smart Growth BC on February 1, 2009. 2009 President's Luncheon Thank you to everyone who attended the 2008 President's Luncheon, and to our Guest speaker, Dr. Michael Goldberg, Professor and Dean Emeritis, The Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia.
