Congratulations Dougal.

David Podmore has received the George Whyte Award at the 2013 REIBC Annual Charity Golf Tournament. The George Whyte Award was created in 2001. An avid golfer, George exemplified what it meant to be a gentleman. In the words of Daniel Stewart, a founding member of the Institute’s golf tournament, George was “an example for all of us to follow”. George was a huge fan of the Institute despite the fact that he did not have the requisite education to become a member. Judi Whyte presents this award each year at the tournament. For more information on this award please check out our website.

Events
Nanaimo Pub Night
The event in Nanaimo on June 20th went very well. Everyone had a good time and between the two groups 25 people came out. The venue (Fibber McGee’s) was perfect and the food was delicious. The AIC group brought a few bottles of wine and together with the gifts from REIBC around 15 prizes were given away.
The evening started around 4:30 with people having the opportunity to mingle and have some appetizers. Dave Kirk’s presentation on "Mid-Vancouver Island Investment Real Estate; The Why and the Who” started around 5:45 and went on for 45 minutes. It was very informative and initiated a lively conversation. The AIC group noted that due to the content and the length of the presentation they were able to obtain 1 professional development credit which of course was well received.
A great time was had by everyone in attendance and we look forward to another in the future.

AGM
On June 13, 2013 REIBC held their AGM. A quorum was present and a number of housekeeping items were updated to the bylaws. The AGM lasted a short time as the business of the Institute was conducted. - There is a position open on Vancouver Island.

Recognition Dinner
After the AGM the annual Recognition Dinner was held. It was attended by 134 people, a great showing for this event. Members who have belonged to the Institute for over 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 & 50 years were honored and the AWARD of EXCELLENCE was presented to Dougal Shewan. Entertainment was a spin-off of a Vegas show and it entertained the group. The event was a great success and we look forward to an even bigger event next year. Check out the photos on our website and register early for next year’s event being held on the 12th of June.
