The REIBC sent out its Member Benefits survey in mid-November. The questions asked pertained to the benefits of being a member of the Institute. We received some excellent feedack. We will be reviewing the results over the coming weeks. We thank all of those who participated. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

All of the members who completed the survey were entered into a draw to win an iPad mini. Congratulations Tom Pringle, Senior Appraiser from the Kelowna BC Assessment office.

REIBC Pub Night

On November 21, we held a Pub Night at the Elephant Castle Pub in the Marine Building in Downtown Vancouver. It was an exciting evening full of fun and laughter; great connections were made.  REIBC gave away a few door prizes. Congratulations Tracy Lakevold, Rob Reichelt, Nick Cheng, Rob Greene & Zoheb Ahmed for winning that night!

It was a great event and we look forward to doing more of them in the future!

North Fraser Pub Night

The North Fraser Chapter also held a pub night on November 21st. Those who attended enjoyed the food and drinks at Browns Social House in Coquitlam.

“It was nice to make time and meet new people in our RI’s family and from our area. It helps to make connections both business and personal and realize how connected we are in the business or even where we live. We were able to have a range of conversations from appraisals, values, assessments, property management, land massing, homelessness, vacations and even party season plans. I really enjoyed the evening and hope to see you out again soon at a RI event.” – Susan Antoniali

“I am glad I decided to go.” – Justin Allin

Sharing ideas about work and life in general is something that we don’t always do, therefore, having an event like this is amazing and great networking opportunity.

Victoria Chapter Pub Night

On the 22nd of November, the Victoria Chapter held their Pub Night at Bard and Banker Pub in Downtown Victoria. Networking started at 5:00 p.m. and ended at 7:00 p.m. Everyone was excited to meet new members and re-connect with old ones. The busy work of the week had ended with a relaxing night full of fun and laughter that echoed in the chilly night of the island. The event was a success and was attended by 21 people including new governor Cheryl Wirsz and Peter Bretherton. Watch for more upcoming events.

Award of Excellence

It’s time to start thinking about nominating an RI colleague for the REIBC Award of Excellence.  Nominations close in May so it gives you plenty of time to get the nominations in.  Criteria and nomination forms can be found here.

BOARD REPORT

We welcomed our newest board member Cheryl Wirsz as a Governor to the Vancouver Island district.

The new terms of reference for Past President's Chapter Liaison role were discussed. More clarity will be provided by staff on key responsibilities to build best potential outcomes for that role. Governors to review again in December board meeting.

We are enjoying the benefits of having our annual comprehensive work plan which includes committee reporting dates that coincide with key milestone dates throughout the year.

We are looking for more recommendations for this year's choice for Honorary Member as well as Award of Excellence members. Information on submissions can be found at www.reibc.org

The goals within our strategic plan, including the new goal #5, were reviewed and approved.  Staff is working on adding the specific performance indicators.  See the 2014 Strategic Plan here.

REIBC By-laws in section 13 were reviewed by the Governors with great discussion about succession planning needed for each chapter chair. Staff is creating a template for Chapter Chairs to use to facilitate their delivery and distribution of minutes within their directors as well as to office staff. Chapter Liaison role offers great collection of activity from all chapters before each in person board meeting.

Respectfully submitted by
Andrea Fletcher, RI, Vice-President
