September is already here and its going to be busy at REIBC! This month the Institute would like to remind our members of our upcoming events: The Vancouver Chapter event, the Cariboo Chapter event, the Thompson/Okanagan Chapter event, "Meet the Pros" at BCIT, the 2011 Presidents Luncheon and the Vancouver Chapter Christmas Reception. We will also like to give our members a Board of Governors update, share the latest news regarding INPUT magazine and welcome the new Chair of the Cariboo Chapter.
Date: September 21, 2011 The Cariboo chapters of REIBC and BCAAIC would like to invite everyone for a joint event that will take place on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at the Prince George Golf & Curling Club. Join us for cocktails and a wonderful dinner and listen to Mr. Tim McEwan, President & CEO of Initiatives Prince George address current business issues of Northern British Columbia. Tim will be discussing how so far this year, most businesses are experiencing higher revenues than the previous two years over the same period and how there is a general air of optimism. Please register as soon as possible for this exciting and informative event in Prince George!
Join the Thompson Okanagan Chapter for an excellent event on October 5, 2011 at the Penticton Golf Club. We invite everyone who is interested to participate in the first luncheon of the fall season to register as soon as possible. Mr. Iain Hyslop, AACI, RI will be addressing the crowd on South Okanagan vineyard trends of the past and present and also present a brief history of the growth of vineyards in the South Okanagan. You definitely do not want to miss this great luncheon at this magnificent venue.
-Regular review of new members, monthly financial statements and the update on performance relative to the strategic plan targets -Planning is underway for the March 2012 symposium and progress to date was reviewed -The Board agreed to pursue research proposals to address the question of capital gains taxation on real estate investments -With a new Board Executive, many of the Institute committees required new representation, and new Chairs were appointed to various committees for the coming year -A review and minor change to the Terms of Reference for the Membership committee was approved -The Board reviewed and approved several minor policy amendments regarding membership and governance -Modifications to the membership application were discussed and it was agreed that notarization of applications will no longer be required -The career postings available on the website were discussed with the view to a potential revenue stream, however, further information is required -The Board has recently been reviewing the employment agreement with the executive officer and have come to an agreement The Board welcomes your feedback and should you have any comments or questions please don’t hesitate to discuss them with your Governor.
