Whether you have years of experience or are new to the industry, REIBC is your key to career advancement and connection with the real estate industry. Professional members have achieved the RI designation, which provide employers and clients with instant confirmation of advanced levels of education and experience.
Peter Chow, RI
Peter began his career in real estate with BC Assessment in 2016, first working temporarily at the Abbotsford office before becoming an Appraiser at the Vancouver office. He is currently responsible for the assessment of residential properties, including portfolios under the Official Community Plans in Vancouver. Peter has always been interested in urban planning and regional development – his undergraduate studies were focused on geography, GIS and urban studies and he worked in the geospatial industry after completing his Bachelors at Simon Fraser University in 2014. Working as an appraiser allows him to explore the dynamics of the real estate market with respect to the growth of the Lower Mainland. He is thrilled to witness this regional growth and to be a part of it. He joined REIBC for the opportunity to be a part of a well-respected organization, further his career development and continue to expand his professional network within the real estate industry. In his spare time, Peter loves to go mountain biking and camping. He hopes to climb Mount Baker in the near future, to visit India and Nepal and to take a road trip through the Dempster Highway to the Arctic Circle.
Welcome Peter.

Housing Affordability: Canada’s National Housing Strategy and CMHC Initiatives – April 14
On Thursday, April 14th, Lance Jakubec, Advisor, Outreach and Project Development, and Elizabeth Tang, Specialist, Outreach and Project Development joined us for an information packed webinar. Elizabeth gave us an overview of four major programs that CMHC has going right now: National Housing Co-Investment Fund, Housing Co-Investment Fund, Rental Construction Financing, and the Home Buyer Incentive. These programs are working in conjunction with the goal of the national housing strategy which was to have every Canadian in a home that they wanted and could
afford by 2030. Admittedly it is a lofty goal, although something that is being aspired to. Lance and Elizabeth were very open to having you contact them if you had questions or wanted to discuss the programs further. You can find a copy of the presentation here, which has their contact information at the end.
REIBC made a donation on their behalf to Seniors Services Society of BC and we thank the Real Estate Foundation of BC for their support.
Overview of First Nation Lands & Interests On-Reserve – April 28
On April 28th REIBC hosted three speakers; Angie Derrickson, Patti Wight and Denise Unger from the First Nations Land Management Resource Centre which gave our participants a great presentation on working on reserve lands. They went through the different Acts and registry systems that are used and advised that whenever working on reserve land to ensure you know the Framework Agreement and what it entails. Every reserve will have different rules for their self-government over their reserve lands so it is imperative you know what their Framework is.
It was also noted by the participants that they would like to see a Lunch & Learn on how to go through the registry so we will work on doing that in the next while.
A donation was made to the Indian Residential School Survivors Society.
We thank REF for their support.
