Josephine Lim, RI

Josephine was invited as Past President of the IAAO (International Association of Assessing Officers) to attend a seminar this past February at the City Hall of Seoul, Republic of Korea. The seminar called "Valuation of Single Family Houses in Seoul and Improvement of the Assessment System" brought over approximately 50 attendees from around the world, including leaders and members of the Korean Association of Property Inspectors, Korean Real Estate Analysts Association as well as university professors, financial representatives, City of Seoul officials, and government and fee appraisers.
The discussion focused on education, training, designations and certifications as well as technical standards. Each presenter focused on the structure and best practices of his or her jurisdicition and country; discussing topics such as role of the appraiser in property assessment and taxation, public relations and revenue generation.
It is wonderful to see an RI share their expertise on the international stage! Great Job, Josephine!
Ryan Jensen, student member

The REIBC recently got an opportunity to touch base with the executive of the 2014-2015 BCIT Real Estate Association and they agreed to let us all know what they are up to now that they've entered the work-world. We will share their stories in the following few editions of our e-newsletter.
Ryan Jensen, President of the BCIT Real Estate Association for 2014-2015 graduated from BCIT in the summer of 2015. Growing up in Williams Lake, Ryan gained a strong understanding of Rural Property and smaller communities. He decided to take this insight and his love for BC's outdoors and turn it into a career he can be excited about. So, after graduating from BCIT Ryan joined LandQuest Realty, a contact he made through participating in various RI held events. Ryan is very excited for this opportunity and constantly thanks the REIBC for the work done for the students.
Congratulations Ryan!
