Board Report

The Board of Governors had a busy meeting the morning of June 11th. The Board bid farewell to a number of members including Mandy Hansen, Cheryl Wirsz, Tracy Wall and Dave Graham and acknowledged the hard work of outgoing President Jason Grant as his term comes to an end.

Doug Janzen, of the Appraisal Institute of Canada - BC, attended as an invited guest and gave an update on their recent National conference in Kelowna and an update from AIC-BC.

Dave Graham presented the audited financial statements highlighting the stable financial situation of the Institute and the hard work of Executive Officer Brenda Southam and staff in managing and reducing expenses.  This was Dave’s final budget presentation and the Governors thanked him for his time and commitment as the Institute’s Secretary/Treasurer.

Business items included ongoing discussion of the Strategic Plan, specifically on the role of the chapters and how to ensure that the Institute remains relevant and responsive to member’s needs.  The Board reviewed part 5, 6 and 7 of the Bylaws.

The Board finished the meeting with lively discussion about what is currently happening in real estate markets in Vancouver and across the province.  The Governors requested the Real Estate Board be invited to attend a future meeting to provide some analysis of the current situation.
