2014 REIBC 21st Annual Charity Golf Tournament
The 21st REIBC Annual Charity Golf Tournament held on Wednesday, June 25th at the Northview Golf and Country Club was a great success. There were 125 eager golfers ready to win a hole in one with prizes like a brand new Mazda car and the $10,000 cash. Unlike last year, this year's tournament had a perfect weather. At the day's end all teams gathered for an excellent dinner and more exciting prizes and raffle draws. Mark Madryga emceed the evening. The top 3 teams were team 12A - Prudential Sussex Realty captained by Judi Whyte; after twenty one years of golfing in the tournament her team won, team 13A - Fusion Security and team 15A - Smart Investments. The most honest team is team 11B - Gateway Property Management. For the raffle draw, Mandy Hansen took home the grand raffle prize while Kipp Rudd won the 50/50 and donated back his winning prize.
George Whyte award was presented by REIBC President Mandy Hansen, RI, to this years recipient, Judi Whyte who was surprised. All of us at the Institute would like to thank Judi for her ongoing support with this tournament.

2014 Recognition Dinner
On June 12, 2014 REIBC held it’s annual Recognition Dinner and over 165 people were in attendance. Our largest one in recent times. It was a great evening.
We were joined by 12 Past Presidents, 1 Honorary Member and 4 Award of Excellence Recipients, Board of Governors and Chapter Chairs. Past President Jacques Khouri came with his Band and played excellent jazz music.
President Mandy Hansen handed out the certificates for the 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 year members with assistance from President-Elect Jason Grant, who read the trivia question for each member.
After dinner Avtar Bains and Bill Phillips were recognized for their contribution to the industry and were given an Honorary membership from the Institute. Then the Award of Excellence was presented by last years recipient, Dougal Shewan. The 2014 Award of Excellence Recipient was Judi Whyte. Judi has been a long standing member of the Institute and was gracious in her remarks of receiving the award.
We had a few laughs with the comedic entertainment of Floyd the Nerd and then more networking before the night ended.
Thank you everyone for making this event a fun one. If you have never attended this event you should put it on your calendar for next year (June 11) as it is a lot of fun and great networking.
Look for more information in the next edition of the INPUT magazine in October.

BOARD REPORT
The Board of Governors for the REIBC held our last Board meeting of this fiscal year just prior to the Recognition Dinner in June. Thank you to all of our guests who could join us at this event. A good time was had by all. At our Board meeting we reviewed this year's financial statements. It does show a significant deficit for the end of this fiscal year, but it is not as bad as it looks. A large portion of the deficit can be attributed to the timing of certain transfers and receipts, which did not occur in time for the year end. These are administrative in nature, and have since been rectified. We looked at our Associate Member policy to ensure a proper workflow for the approvals and notification of new members under this category. We also had a lively discussion on possible ways to make becoming and maintaining Professional membership easier for our members. This will form part of our Strategic Planning session in the Fall where we will continue focusing on member attraction and retention strategies. We have been working on amending a piece of Provincial legislation to reflect current terminology used within the REIBC Bylaws. A big thank you to Cheryl Wirsz for spearheading this effort. A thorough examination of our policies was undertaken at this meeting to ensure that the wording was correct and that they reflect current practice. It has been a pleasure to serve you this past year as President, and I look forward to exciting things to come from the REIBC in the coming year. ~ Mandy Hansen, REIBC President
