REIBC Events
The BCIT REA was very excited to host their Commercial Real Estate Industry Panel last Thursday. With the goal to better enrich the overall learning experience of the students, we decided to host a panel styled discussion with 5 professionals. The wide array of professionals brought perspectives from all ends of the spectrum and allowed us to dive deeper into concepts and real world problems that are all inherently present in the Lower Mainland. The discussion was extremely educational and supplemented our in-class learning. This event format was a first of its kind for BCIT and might transpire into a yearly tradition. Once again, a huge thank-you to our sponsors CMLS Financial and Concert Properties for helping put on such an amazing event. And a special thank you to the REIBC for helping organize and for their ongoing and continual support of the BCIT REA. - Brandon Sibal

Meet Kelvin Coley-Donohue, RI
Greetings everyone! I am a Real Estate appraiser in my 20th year with Campbell and Pound Commercial Ltd., based in Richmond. I joined the Appraisal Institute of Canada in 1997, I achieved my AACI in 2003. I joined the REIBC and was awarded my RI(BC) in 2004. I joined the Real Estate Institute of Canada in 2012, and achieved my CRP in 2013. In our firm, I work primarily on Right of Way projects, Market Rent Studies, and Depreciation Reports, and recently co-managing the Commercial division.
Real Estate Appraisal is my fourth and final career, and it has been the most interesting and intellectually rewarding. Being a member of the very dynamic REIBC has proven to be a great avenue to meet contacts and potential clients. I have also been an active volunteer all of my life, I strongly believe we all have to do our part. My mentor at Campbell and Pound, Dan Jones, introduced me to many, many people in the AIC and REIBC. From there I have participated in “Meet the Pros” nights, spoken to Langara and UBC Real Estate Club students; served on AIC-Vancouver Chapter including as Chair; Co-Chaired the Vancouver 2007 committee for the AIC National Conference; in 2014, elected to serve as a Director for AIC-BC, where I handle the Marketing and Communications Charter.
My wife, Leslie and I celebrated our 40th anniversary in 2016, with our two daughters and son-in-law. Many of you who know me, know I wear hats all the time. In a recent trip to our local thrift store, I parted with 10 hats, which I am sorry to say, wasn’t half of the collection!
Meet Rhiannon Carpentier, RI
I completed my BBA in 2011 and began working for BC Assessment in 2012. I currently
work in our Surrey office where I have been an Appraiser working on several different teams handling portfolios involving residential, industrial and special purpose properties. I received my designation with REIBC in October 2015 and I have been volunteering as a Chapter Director ever since. I am passionate about learning and development, and I frequently provide mentorship and training in my organization. I am looking forward to the next few months where I will be traveling throughout the province providing new training to our staff on our new performance management practices.
My current goal is to gain as much experience and knowledge with different property types as possible so that I can become a well rounded Appraiser. Outside of work, I am currently working to complete my income property guided case study through Sauder School of Business.
I enjoy spending time outdoors hiking, traveling (most recently to Bali), and socializing with friends and family!
