Perspectives on Economic Recovery from the Pandemic for Northern BC

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the economic foundation of businesses and services. It is not like past shocks and the pathway to recovery will be different. This webinar will discuss how different sectors in Northern BC are being impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, what factors will affect the pathway to recovery and what opportunities and challenges may lay ahead.
Susan Mowbray
Partner, Economics and Research
Susan is a Partner in MNP’s Consulting Group and leads the Economics and Research Practice. She has more than 20 years of experience in economic modelling and applying economic analysis in a variety of contexts and 15 years of experience in project management. Susan’s work has included assignments for public sector organizations, industry associations and private companies and has spanned a wide range of industries. She has extensive experience working with clients involved in the aquaculture, transportation, healthcare, non-profit, utilities, education, manufacturing and automotive sectors.
Susan has a deep understanding of the regional nature of BC’s economy and the factors that affect Northern BC. She is the lead author of Northern Development Initiative Trust’s State of the North report and has worked on a number of projects related to economic development in the area including the development of economic indicators for economic development agencies, the assessment of the economic impacts of proposed developments, labour market assessments and periodic updates to the data used for the community profiles on the Trade and Invest British Columbia website.
Susan holds a MA in Economics from Simon Fraser University, has taught in the School of Business at BCIT and is a member of the Association of Professional Economists of BC.
