The Award of Excellence

The membership of the Real Estate Institute of British Columbia includes many individuals who provide outstanding service to the Institute, to the real estate industry generally, and to their own communities.  The Institute selects one professional member who has achieved service excellence in each of these areas by awarding them with the Real Estate Institute of British Columbia's Award of Excellence.  The Award of Excellence is a formal recognition of members who have distinguished themselves over their careers and have contributed significantly to the advancement of the Institute, to the broader real estate industry and to their individual communities.

As past recipients of the Award of Excellence have expressed, receiving such an award is a particularly meaningful experience as it is first a recognition of their efforts by their peers.  Only professional members of the Institute are eligible to forward nominations.

As noted by Cal Ross, the 2010 recipient, "It represents an acknowledgement of our contributions to the profession and the community from one of the most recognized Institutes in the real estate field.  Awards of this stature are usually presented to one person, but are deserved by many."

The 2011 recipient, John D'Eathe states:  "It feels like you're up for an Oscar!  A room full of fellow professionals that you highly respect and maybe, just maybe, they have selected you for their Award of Excellence!  And the Award goes to .. . . Of course you are duly modest about it, but it is very gratifying to be recognized in this way by your friends in business.  Added to which there is the Wow reaction from your family and grandchildren which gives you the biggest smile."

Recipients are recognized at the annual Recognition Dinner held each year in June.

Please note: the Award of Excellence has become the RI Medal of Distinction. In addition to this award, REIBC now also gives away the RI Medal of Excellence for Leadership, the RI Medal of Excellence for Ingenuity and the RI Medal of Excellence for an Emerging Leader.
