REIBC is a not for profit professional organization that awards the RI designation denoting that those individuals that have received the designation are experienced educated and connected. Its membership is a voluntary membership of real estate professionals from all sectors of the real estate industry. The mission is to promote our diverse RI designated members as distinguished professionals that are trusted, educated and experienced. REIBC collaborates with other organizations to promote professional development and professionalism throughout the industry.

The RI designation is the real estate designation of those professionals who have completed a specific education requirement and experience requirement. This designation is granted by the Real Estate Institute of BC and denotes that the person with an RI designation is experienced, educated and connected.

No. REIBC does not offer any academic courses leading to degrees, certifications, or licenses. However, it does provide a variety of professional development seminars and events for our members and the general public. If you would like information concerning industry education, please contact UBC – Sauder School of Business, Real Estate Department or BCIT.

Yes. If you are a professional in real estate and meet the exception or the Executive requirements you may apply for membership. These applications go before the Board of Governors for their discussion and approval. The more information for the better.

Also, Associate and Nominee memberships are available to those interested in the real estate industry and who qualify under these categories. These members have access to all REIBC resources and events, but cannot use the RI designation, and may not vote or hold office.

No. You can apply for Associate membership, which offers access to all REIBC resources and events, but does not offer the RI designation, voting or office-holding privileges.

Professional Members: Click on the button that reads “Apply Now” and you will be asked to complete a registration and pay an application fee. Once you have completed the registration and the application fee has been paid, you will receive an email with the application form attached.

For Nominee and Associate Members: Click on the button that reads “Apply Now” and you will be directed to the online application.

Yes. Professional members can transfer their membership to Retired status with no registration fee. Retired status applies to individuals who have retired from the profession of real estate and no longer receives any remuneration from the Profession of real estate.

Yes, members that have lapsed within the last 3-years may reinstate at a cost of $100 + renewal dues.

To reinstate, log into the member area and click "add reinstatement fee to my shopping cart". Once you've paid the $100 fee, you will receive an online questionnaire via email. Once you complete this form, you will be taken to pay your renewal fee. Once your dues are paid, your membership will be activated.

Leave of Absence will be considered for:

Maternity and/or Parental Leave – expectant mother, birth parent, adoptive parent, legal guardian

Disability/Medical Leave – illness or disability, death of a spouse, child or dependent, serious illness of a spouse, child or dependent.
