Appraisal Review Workshop - Kelowna

The Appraisal Review Workshop is designed to be a 3 hour two-part workshop.
The first part will discuss the requirements for completing written and oral technical reviews in accordance with CUSPAP. Instrumental to a technical review are good writing and communication skills. This session will discuss effective report writing techniques, as well as the do’s and don’ts of critiquing another appraiser’s report.
The second part of the session will engage the participants in completing a compliance review of an appraisal report on an income-producing property. The workshop promises invigorating discussions and is intended to be interactive with pre-course work assigned.

Speaker: Nathalie Roy-Patenaude, AACI, P. App.
Nathalie joined the Appraisal Institute of Canada (AIC) as Director-Counsellor, Professional Practice in March 2012. In this role, Nathalie is responsible for promoting and administering the Institute’s professional practice process and for ensuring that the work performed by the membership is in accordance with the Code of Conduct and the Canadian Uniform Standards of Professional
Appraisal Practice (CUSPAP). Nathalie’s business area is responsible for overseeing AIC’s disciplinary process and Nathalie has been called to testify as an expert witness or act as an Advocate at professional practice hearings.
Nathalie possesses a sound understanding of the appraisal and real estate industries. She began her career in 1993 as a fee appraiser with Pigeon-Roy Appraisal Ltd. in Ottawa. She achieved the Canadian Residential Appraiser (CRA) and the Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI) designations through the Appraisal Institute of Canada in 1996 and 2000, respectively.
In 1999, Nathalie joined the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) where she specialized in the valuation of retirement homes, long-term care facilities and affordable housing projects. Over the course of her appraisal career, Nathalie has acquired experience in the valuation of residential, rental, commercial, industrial, institutional, and agricultural properties.
Nathalie has delivered a number of presentations to AIC provincial and local chapters and to industry stakeholders in the areas of professional practice, ethics and professionalism, fraud prevention and understanding the fundamentals of real estate valuation.
