Widely recognized as one of Vancouver’s most influential contributors to the real estate industry, David Podmore has been in the business for more than 40 years.

David brought years of planning and development experience to the table when he co-founded Concert with Jack Poole in 1989. Today, David serves as Chair of Concert Real Estate Corporation and Concert Infrastructure Ltd.

David Podmore

As of July 2020, the Concert entities (owned by 19 Canadian pension funds representing over 200,000 British Columbians) had shareholder equity of over $1.9 billion and assets of over $7.0 billion. Under David’s guidance, Concert has been profitable each of the 30 years of its operation and has generated annualized returns for its shareholders of over 10% since formation in 1989.

Since first operations in 1989, the company has completed over 12,000 rental and condominium homes and developed an income property portfolio of more than 13,000,000 sq. ft. The company now operates in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Quebec, and Nunavut. Through Concert Infrastructure Ltd. the company now also builds and manages an extensive portfolio of public infrastructure in Canada.

David holds a Bachelor’s Degree specializing in Community and Regional Planning from the University of British Columbia and a Master’s Degree (Earth Sciences) specializing in Urban Planning from the University of Alberta. He is a Registered Professional Planner (MCIP), a Professional Member of the Real Estate Institute of British Columbia (RIBC) and a Professional Member of the Real Estate Institute of Canada (FRI). In 2005, David was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Technology from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.

David has served as Chair of the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) Foundation, President of the Urban Development Institute (Pacific Region), President of the Greater Vancouver Home Builders Association, member of the BC Progress Board, Chair of the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation (BCCHF) and spent eight years as a director of the Canadian Tourism Commission. He has also served as: Director of Ainsworth Inc.; Imperial Parking; Chair and Director of the FortisBC Board of Directors; Director of LifeLabs Inc. Today, he serves as an Advisory Committee Director of Balfour Pacific Capital, and a Director on the BC Ferry Services Board. In 2012 he returned as Chair of the BCCHF to be present for construction of the new BC Children’s Hospital – a project he initiated in 2003 – the development project completed on October 29, 2017.
