Anticipated regulatory change is set to exponentially impact the private lending and mortgage brokering sectors in BC - from the Cullen Commission recommendations, the new foreign buyers' ban, new licensing legislation to revisiting the criminal rate of interest in a federal lending consultation. We will review what is to come and potential impacts in this growing sector.

Samantha Gale is a legally trained regulatory expert with expertise in mortgage and real estate issues, lending practices and finance law and regulation.  She has recently completed a Masters of Law with a specialization in financial regulation from Osgoode Hall Law School. She spent 15 years working for BC's financial services sector regulator, and 9 years as an association CEO providing policy analyses in the real estate and mortgage sectors. She now works with private lenders and brokers with the Canadian Association of Private Lenders, and also engages in consultative and expert work with industry.
