REIBC Chapter Boat Cruise

Join the Vancouver, North Fraser and Fraser Valley Chapter's on a chartered boat cruise through the Vancouver Harbour on the M.V. Royal Vancouver! 

What better way to learn about waterfront development then through a guided boat cruise? Join the Vancouver, North Fraser and Fraser Valley Chapter's, as well as Michael Gordon, Senior Planner with the City of Vancouver for a tour of the Vancouver harbour, where he will give a talk on various waterfront developments.

Boarding will begin at 5:30 pm, with departure at 6 p.m. returning to dock at 9p.m. The Yacht is moored on the dock next to "Bridges Restaurant " on Granville Island.  Appetizers will be served and a full stocked cash bar will be on board.

Michael Gordon, M.Sc M.C.I.P is Senior Central Area Planner for the City of Vancouver primarily focused on planning in the downtown peninsula and the False Creek basin. He has been an Adjunct Professor teaching Housing Policy at the University of British Columbia for 12 years.  From 2004 - 2007, Michael represented British Columbia planners on the Governing Council for the Canadian Institute of Planners. Recently, he was also Vice-President of the Planning Institute of British Columbia.  

He has written extensively on urban design and planning, demographics and housing.  Currently, he is working on an article about the emergence of smaller ‘urban supermarkets’ in high density neighborhoods in Vancouver and is shooting a documentary on the history of live music venues in Vancouver with Mark Pickersgill. He has been invited to speak and advise on urban issues in Berlin, New York, Seattle, Philadelphia, Portland, Memphis, Fort Worth, Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Halifax, Los Angeles and other cities. He has also received a number of awards for achievements in planning and his volunteer contributions to city planning and community-based planning.
