Job Description / Duties

Reporting to the Director of Real Estate and working with two other managers and a team of real estate professionals, the Manager of Real Estate is responsible for a variety of real estate activities that ensure the efficient administration, effective utilization and optimization of the port authority’s real estate assets. In this role your responsibilities will primarily include:

• Manage the core business activities of the Real Estate Department. This includes responsibility for negotiation of property agreements, rent reviews, valuations, acquisitions, exchanges and payments in lieu of taxes. Ensure compliance by tenants of contractual obligations to VFPA.

• Oversee the timely collection of revenues and ensure availability of adequate cash flows from rentals. Explore new revenue growth opportunities from real property assets.

• Formulate, review and monitor various departmental processes, land management and pricing policies and strategies designed to ensure the VFPA’s real property assets are maximized and protected.

• Ensure accurate property records are properly maintained in department using corporate filing and property management systems.

• Establish and track key performance indicators for the department’s property administrative functions.

• Manage staff, ensuring that team and individuals are motivated, have defined position descriptions and reporting arrangements, their performance goals are clear and actively managed and development needs are defined and addressed.

Qualifications / Required Skills

As the ideal candidate, you have a Bachelor’s degree in commerce, real estate, business or law along with a minimum of 5 years real estate experience at a management level preferably with a focus on industrial land management. You have exceptional negotiation and problem-solving skills and a solid background in real estate analysis, leasehold administration and property management systems. Your outstanding leadership, interpersonal, analytical, and communication capabilities are coupled with a strong preference and demonstrated capability to work in a team. You are a strategic thinker with the ability to foster the development of staff, and are driven toward continuous improvement in propelling efficient processes and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
