Job Description / Duties

The City of Coquitlam is currently seeking a Manager, Land Development for their Strategic Initiatives Department. Reporting to the Director of City Lands, the individual in this role will be responsible for developing the city’s land portfolio with a focus in the North East Coquitlam area. Duties will include market research and trend analysis, sourcing and analyzing the feasibility of potential development sites and evaluating the associated development schemes including conceptual planning to enable informed strategic land decisions.

Working in close collaboration with the Manager, Real Estate, this role will also be responsible for managing the feasibility and other studies/reviews/reports with respect to the highest and best use of city land assets, conducting financial/proforma analysis, evaluating development phasing and absorption options and performing development impact assessments, all in support of bringing City lands to market.

The Manager, Land Development will also be responsible for Land Development Project Management functions such as coordinating submission of various regulatory applications (subdivisions, site plans, zoning bylaws, environmental), preparing schedules, reports and budgetary approvals to ensure timelines are met.

Qualifications / Required Skills

The ideal candidate will bring at least 3 to 7 years land development experience coupled with a Degree in Urban Planning,Engineering and/or Architecture or related field. Ability to see industry trends for future developments, knowledge of the municipal regulatory approval processes, land servicing, and strong project management skills are essential. The ideal candidate will also possess exceptional communication and inter-personal skills, is very organized and detail oriented with a proven track record of establishing highly functional relationships across diverse interests, function in a fast pace environment and is a self-motivator who takes on new initiatives.

Additional Information

A valid Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia is required. Applicants under consideration will be required to consent to a Police Information Check.
