The Purpose for Building and Land Management Section is to protect and leverage the City’s Real estate.

Bring your leadership expertise to the City of Edmonton as the Supervisor, Property Management and Leasing for Building and Land Management. Your knowledge, skills and experience will ensure your work unit of dedicated employees are recruited, trained and supported to maximize their engagement and performance potential going forward.

Working as an agent for council, the Executive Leadership Team, the Branch Manager, and reporting to the Director, Building and Land Management, you will contribute to the Purpose by performing a dual-faceted role. Firstly as a member of the Section Leadership Team, the role is focused on creating conditions for the success of the strategies, priorities and direction of the Section and Branch. Secondly, you will be accountable for creating and aligning the human, social, technical and operational systems required to carry out the work of the section and unit.

As the Supervisor, Property Management and Leasing, you will provide the supervision, leadership, and management of staff and financial resources responsible for corporate, commercial, and residential space, including both City-owned and leased office space, retail space, mixed use, and special-purpose including non-profit facilities. Using your strategic and out-of-the box mindset you will:
*Coordinate and implement Accommodation and Tenant Improvement projects through ensuring accommodation activities are properly undertaken

*Develop and monitor budgets and schedules, coordination of renovations, and act as a liaison for move and communication activities

*Provide property management of City-owned and leased facilities; supervise staff, ensure proper operations, maintenance, and service

*Prepare, administer and control the unit budget programs through development of annual building budgets and allocating charges to civic departments, monitor rent/operating costs and variances including establishing a best practice lease reconciliation process

*Negotiate and prepare leases and contracts with private sector firms, realtors, and other organizations; ensure space management activities are met, relative to terms and conditions in contracts

*Meet the objectives of the Department and Branch Strategic Plans and Corporate initiatives through long and short term planning surrounding all accommodation strategies

*This position will be designated as a mobile employee and will be required to work at different locations and hoteling stations

Qualifications / Required Skills

*Successful completion of a University degree in Commerce, Economics or a related discipline

*An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered

*Professional designation as a Certified Property Manager (CPM) through the Institute of Real Estate Management, OR Real Property Administrator (RPA) or Facility Management Administrator (FMA) through the Building Owners and Managers Institute or equivalent

*Minimum of 7 years progressively responsible experience in commercial office property/asset administration, including four 4 years at a supervisory level, preferably within a unionized environment

*Experience working with and knowledge of facility leasing, property and asset management, lease and contract administration, and license agreements

*Extensive experience in project planning, including budget development and control, and financial management, including cash flow projections; project management experience is preferred

*Proven leadership qualities, including interpersonal skills in dealing with staff and senior levels of management, as well as business experience in dealing with the private sector

*Highly developed management, supervisory, and negotiation skills

*Experience with the Google platform is preferred and experience with Tririga would be beneficial

*Excellent communication (written, verbal and presentation), interpersonal, political acumen skills required

Salary: $84,597.00 - $120,852.00 (Annually)
