Job Description / Duties
The General Manager oversees a diverse team that is responsible for the maintenance, development, management, design and construction of all of the real estate assets and facilities infrastructure at the City of Vancouver, including facilities operated by the Vancouver Board of Parks & Recreation, Vancouver Fire & Rescue, Vancouver Police Department, Vancouver Public Library, and all other City-affiliated divisions and departments.
Qualifications / Required Skills
As the ideal candidate, you have been responsible and accountable for overseeing a large and diverse portfolio of properties and facilities, ensuring a high level of customer service to a broad range of clients. You bring an understanding of managing a portfolio in a way that balances cost efficiencies with meeting the unique needs of a variety of users. A true and demonstrated leader and relationship builder, you have a strong customer service ethic and an ability to infuse that across an organization. Ideally you have had experience working in a unionized, public sector environment where needs are extremely varied. A seasoned operator, you are able to contribute to the overall strategy and objectives of the City as a member of the City’s leadership team. Your experience is ideally augmented by a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or Architecture.
