Job Description / Duties
The District of Lake Country is seeking a permanent full-time Land Agent to join their team. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, they will be responsible for providing recommendations and advice to Council on land related matters. The Land Agent provides a variety of land related services including acting as Project Manager when required for negotiations, purchase and sale of land that support the District and its projects, overseeing statutory right of ways, road dedications, expropriation, leases and covenants.
The Land Agent will work in a fast-paced environment, have excellent diplomacy and interpersonal skills and be proficient in managing land-related projects with a high level of professionalism and integrity. The normal work week is 40 hours, with a Monday to Friday scheduled and does include evenings to attend council and other meetings as required. The salary for this exempt position is within a range of $90,963 to $107,016, depending upon qualifications, and includes a comprehensive pension and benefits package.
Qualifications / Required Skills
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in urban land economics or business or real estate, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
• Minimum of five years’ experience in the real estate industry, land development industry, or government lands ministry/agency/department;
• Demonstrated working experience in real estate and contract law, municipal planning, property law, real estate conveyance, marketing, leasing, acquisition, disposal, business case preparation, Land Title Act, Land Act and Agricultural Land Commission Act;
• Member in good standing, or eligibility for membership, in the Real Estate Institute of BC (RIBC) or the Appraisal Institute of BC (AACI), or the Real Estate Institute of Canada (FRI);
• Experience working in a local government setting an asset; and
• A valid British Columbia Driver’s License.
