Job Description / Duties

The Leader, Fleets & Facilities is responsible for strategic planning and operational oversight for all of Technical Safety BC’s facilities and vehicles. This position has a mandate to develop and implement a strategic plan for fleets and facilities that takes into account post-COVID operational needs of the business, trends in office space design and usage for the future of work, changing vehicle technologies and the goal Technical Safety BC has to reduce its carbon footprint. The position is responsible for developing and managing operational and capital budgets for facilities and fleets and for negotiating, planning, managing and maintaining leased space facilities and vehicle fleets that optimize Technical Safety BC’s capacity to deliver exceptional employee and client experiences and value-added, accessible services. The Leader Fleets & Facilities reports to the VP, Finance. In a unionized context, this role leads and coaches a team of 4 persons who are responsible for space planning, office configurations and re-configurations, office moves, property cleaning, maintenance, office access and security and vehicle leasing, purchasing, insurance, monitoring, maintenance, tracking and disposal. The Leader, Fleets &Facilities collaborates across the organization and also works closely with external partners, including landlords, property management companies, leasing companies and insurance providers.

Qualifications / Required Skills

The candidate must be a proactive, strategic relationship builder with superb influencing, analytical, planning and negotiation skills. Curious and calm under pressure, the candidate must have high integrity, sound judgment and a strong drive for results. A self-starter and team player, the candidate must have a collaborative style, the proven capacity to build and engage a high-performing team and a passion for excellence in facilities and fleet management in a changing world. The candidate must have at least 7 years of related experience, including at least 3 years of management experience in unionized environments, ideally in roles with an emphasis on commercial leasing and property and fleet management. A proactive and innovative thinker, the person must have the proven ability to anticipate and plan for change and a reputation for a win-win approach to solving problems and negotiating contracts. A good communicator, the person must have ability to turn the thinking into the formal proposal and presentation for obtaining senior management’s support and approval. The ideal candidate has completed a degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, Operations, or a related discipline and has strong and current knowledge of facilities and fleet management.
