Job Description / Duties
The Property Agent 1 position is a blend of office and field work pertaining to the management of
real estate assets of the City. In particular, this includes negotiation, review of appraisal
reports and the preparation of contracts. Working knowledge of the Expropriation Act, the
Community Charter and other related legislations is expected.
Qualifications / Required Skills
Reporting to the Asset Management Section Manager, the successful incumbent will:
- Use your in-depth knowledge of principles and procedures of acquisition, appraising and
laws related to real estate interests to a dedicated team of professionals;
- Prepare and review reports and documents related to real property transactions,
including dispositions, acquisitions and leases;
- Using your customer relationship management and interpersonal skills, negotiate with property owners and/or representatives and tenants;
- Prescribe to highest ethical and professional standards pledging to conduct yourself in a
manner that is not detrimental to the public nor the reputation of the City of Surrey;
- Be someone who sees the “Big Picture” and is strategic in aligning business practices to
the overall direction of the organization; and
- Feel comfortable in identifying problems, dedicated to seeking solutions and is an
exceptional team player.
Additional Information
Qualified applicants will have the following:
• You must have completion of a two-year diploma in a related technology or discipline and a minimum of 3 years of current related real estate experience or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Applicants must be eligible for membership in the International Right-of-Way Association, the Appraisal Institute of Canada or the Real Estate Institute of British Columbia.
• A valid BC Driver’s License with safe driving history is required.
Pay Steps / Hourly Rate
Step 1 $45.61
Step 2 (6 months) $47.52
Step 3 (18 months) $49.52
Step 4 (30 months) $51.52
