Job Description / Duties

BC Assessment is now hiring a permanent Senior Appraiser in Nanaimo or Victoria!

As a member of the leadership team in the Vancouver Island Region of BC Assessment, you can expect an exciting and challenging career opportunity. As a Senior Appraiser, you will be responsible for valuing and defending the most complex property types. You will contribute your strong leadership abilities, project management skills, and experience in the real estate industry to provide effective leadership to a team of appraisers in the production of the annual assessment roll. You will be accountable for areas of Roll Preparation, Audit and Quality Assurance, Roll Defence, and Customer Service, and you will have the opportunity to lead projects and contribute to the region and the company in many ways.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Education

• Undergraduate degree in Commerce or Business Administration. Other undergraduate degrees may also be considered with a preference for Economics, Urban Geography, Urban Planning, or Engineering.
• Accreditation with the Appraisal Institute of Canada as an Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI) or be designated with the Real Estate Institute of BC as an RI(BC) with the Diploma in Urban Land Economics with the mass appraisal, appraisal, or assessment option.

Note: Individuals who held and have maintained accreditation with either a RI(BC) designation with the diploma in Urban Land Economics or AACI designation prior to December 31, 2007, will be deemed to meet these educational requirements. For individuals who obtained their designation after November 1, 2014, BUSI 344 (Statistical and Computer Applications in Valuation) and BUSI 499 (Income Property Guided Case Study) will be required to be eligible for a permanent Senior Appraiser position, regardless of the designation path.

Experience

• At least 4 years of progressively complex appraisal, supervisory and project management experience is required.
• Specialized appraisal experience preferred.
