365 Waterfront’s remaining home offers unprecedented luxury in Victoria

Concert’s condominium development in Victoria, 365 Waterfront, has just one home remaining for sale.

The luxurious two bedroom and den penthouse encompasses 1,675 square feet of interior living space and an incredible 847 square foot outdoor terrace. This expansive terrace combined with floor-to-ceiling windows mean that nothing stands between this home and the spectacular, unobstructed south and west facing mountain and water views.

365 Waterfront is an 84-home, terraced, concrete midrise situated on the waterfront in Victoria’s scenic Upper Harbour. With direct access to a network of hiking and biking trails, this quiet waterfront setting is only minutes to Victoria’s vibrant downtown core.

Brian McCauley appointed President & Chief Operating Officer

Concert’s President, Brian McCauley, was recently named the company’s President & Chief Operating Officer. This new title reflects his leadership role at Concert which includes direction and oversight for all of the company’s operations across Canada.

Having joined Concert in 1994 as Development Manager, Brian played a key role in bringing some of the company’s largest mixed-use projects to fruition and led Concert’s expansion into Toronto. As a result of the solid leadership and dedication he has provided over the years, Brian was named Executive Vice President in 2006 and President in 2009.

Brian holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Manitoba and a Master of Architecture from the University of Oregon specializing in Housing, Urban Redevelopment & Development Economics. He serves on the board of the Urban Development Institute (UDI) Pacific Region and is a past director of the Building Industry and Land Development Association of Toronto (BILD).

With over twenty years of experience in the real estate development business, Brian is well-positioned to steer Concert towards continued growth, prosperity and success.

Campus rental housing development breaks ground

Construction has commenced on Concert’s latest residential rental development, Axis, located at the University of British Columbia (UBC).

Situated near the heart of the campus, Axis is a short walk from the Student Union Building, aquatic centre and gymnasium. The 174 self-contained, purpose-built rental homes will contain a mix of studio and one bedroom suites that range from 414 to 550 square feet and cater exclusively to students, faculty, staff and other campus employees. All suites will come equipped with full kitchens and in-suite laundry, and many will showcase unobstructed views of the ocean and North Shore mountains.

As the final development within the Chancellor Place neighbourhood of UBC, Axis sits adjacent to the exiting St. Andrews residence, Stirling House condominiums and the new George R. Curtis Faculty of Law building. In conjunction with Axis, a 25,000-square-foot landscaped green space equipped with a children’s playground is being delivered by Concert as a legacy to the neighbourhood.

Much like Tapestry at Wesbrook Village UBC – a rental and condominium retirement community completed in the fall of 2010 – Axis is on track to meet the rigorous sustainability requirements of UBC’s REAP (Residential Environmental Assessment Program) Gold certification. Among other sustainability features, Axis will utilize high-efficiency boilers, occupancy and motion light sensors, energy-efficient light fixtures/equipment, water-saving fixtures and ample bicycle parking to promote sustainable and active campus living.

Completion is targeted for the summer of 2013 with move-ins available in time for the start of the 2013 school year.

A dedicated member of the team retires

Concert staff came together recently to wish Concert’s Manager of Office Services, Cheryl MacRae, all the best in her retirement and to honour the extraordinary contribution she has made to our organization over the past 16 years.

Throughout her tenure with Concert, Cheryl has played a vital part in many of the day-to-day business operations – from information technology to human resources; corporate secretary to office manager. Cheryl has been a mentor, friend and even a counselor to so many at Concert and has won the respect of all her colleagues through her hard work, integrity and kindness.  Her retirement is a much deserved break following years of dedicated service. We all wish her the very best!

Founded in 1989, Concert specializes in developing rental apartments, condominium homes and retirement communities, acquiring and developing commercial, industrial and infrastructure properties and in property management. With operations in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario and the backing of more than 200,000 Canadians represented by the union and management pension plans who own Concert, our commitment is to build strong, sustainable communities across Canada.
