City Centre: A poetry reading and conversation about life in urban Vancouver

Time: 7-9pm
Place: Harbour Centre, 515 West Hastings St.
Cost: Join the waitlist online

Whether it's the seemingly perpetual rain outside the window, the cement high-rises on the street, or the mountains in the near distance, Vancouver's dramatic landscape, mixed architecture, gloomy weather, and diverse population affect each of its artists in different ways.

Join Vancouver's current poet laureate, Evelyn Lau, for a poetry reading and conversation about how her hometown has shaped her poetry, her writing, and her viewpoints on life.

Thursday, August 8

SFU Harbour Centre Harvest Box Pick Up

Time: 1:30-5:30pm
Place: Harbour Centre foyer, 515 West Hastings St.
Cost: Order yours online

Harbour Centre Harvest Box pick up takes place in the main floor corridor (across from the Belzberg library) from 1:30pm-5:30pm. There are two Harvest Box options available for order online: a value box, and a local box. Alternatively, the Local Box (15.75) contains local vegetables and fruit sourced from British Columbia farmers and suppliers, and supports local sustainable agricultural methods (organic, spray free, biodynamic, etc). All SFU students, faculty, and staff, are welcome to order a Harvest box through the Sustainable SFU website.

‘We Are BC’ – Show us your (working) life video submissions

SFU Public Square is building a video portrait of BC's economic life: a collage of your stories and ideas on work and money. We're looking for authentic voices, so you don't need to be a professional filmmaker. You could win a $500 People's Choice award and a place in our permanent collection.

“We Are BC’ is looking for 30-second unedited videos showing your experience working, searching, saving, and planning – your overall experience of work and money in BC. Head to the website for submission requirements and instructions.
