Senior Property Acquisition Coordinator
$75,552.53 - $86,175.83 annually

As the Senior Property Acquisition Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing all property acquisition activities and delivery of property for complex land acquisition projects with multiple stakeholders, including high value projects with significant public visibility. You will also be responsible for resource budgeting, contract management, market valuations, procurement of legal land survey, appraisals and other consultant services, road closures, expropriation and related project management. Additionally, you will lead, plan and manage property acquisition projects for fee simple properties, Crown land, gravel pits, statutory rights of ways, temporary licenses and easements, and land exchanges.

Qualifications / Required Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline (i.e. Business, commerce, public administration, geography, real estate, economics, planning, resource development or law) and a minimum of 5 years related experience, OR
• Diploma in related discipline (i.e. Business, commerce, public administration, geography, real estate, economics, planning, resource development or law) plus 7 years related experience. Note: Preference may be given to applicants who hold a Diploma in Urban Land Economics with Appraisal Option.
• Accreditation with a nationally recognized appraisal or real estate society such as the Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI) designation, or professional membership with the Real Estate Institute of British Columbia (RIBC) is a requirement for this position. *Applicants will also be considered if they meet any of the following conditions:
o Applicants who are candidate members in good standings with either Appraisal Institute of Canada (AIC) or Real Estate Institute of British Columbia (RIBC);
o Applicants that currently possess an affiliate institute or society designation or qualification who meet the AIC or RIBC’s qualifications for immediate acceptance; or
o Applicants who have completed all the course work necessary to obtain immediately the AACI or RIBC designation but have not yet applied.
• *NOTE: Documented proof of meeting the conditions above may be requested from the applicant as part of the hiring process.

Related experience includes:

• A minimum of five years’ experience in property acquisition, real estate related activities such as negotiations, land transfers, tenures, development approvals or other work related to property interests, preferably in the public sector.
• Experience managing complex projects involving private or public property interests.
• Experience in planning and developing contracts to obtain consulting services.
• Considerable negotiation and conflict resolution experience.
