Foreclosure 101: A Practical Overview and What Real Estate Professionals Should Watch for

The discussion will provide a breakdown of the foreclosure steps, the role of real estate professionals (such as appraisers and realtors) in a foreclosure and practice points from a lawyer, Erin Hatch of Harper Grey LLP, and appraiser, Dan Jones of Campbell & Pound Ltd., both of whom have been involved in hundreds of foreclosures. This will be an engaging conversation on the topic that you won’t want to miss!

Events/erin_hatch-1_002_.jpgErin Hatch is an associate in the Commercial Litigation, Insolvency and Restructuring and Estate Litigation practice groups at Harper Grey LLP in Vancouver. She has appeared at all levels of court in British Columbia. In her Commercial Litigation practice, her clients include individuals and businesses engaged in a wide range of commercial disputes, including shareholder disputes, breach of contract, misrepresentation, professional liability and real estate claims. In her Insolvency and Restructuring practice, she routinely advises and represents secured and unsecured creditors, trustees and debtors in insolvency and debt enforcement proceedings which includes an expertise acting for lenders in foreclosure proceedings and acting for judgment creditors in the enforcement of foreign judgments.

In addition to her Commercial Litigation and Insolvency and Restructuring practice, Erin also practices in the area of Estate Litigation. She represents executors, trustees, beneficiaries and disinherited family members in a variety of matters, including matters relating to the validity of wills, rectification of wills, capacity issues, resulting trusts, appointment of committees and wills variation claims

Daniel Jones

Events/Daniel-Jones-2a.jpgDaniel Jones, AACI,P App,RI,CRP is the President of Both Campbell & Pound Residential  (1939) Ltd and Campbell & Pound Commercial  Ltd.   Both Companies are managed and directed by Daniel Jones.

Mr. Jones had been an RI Designated member since September of 1978 under certificate Number 1561.  Mr. Jones’s father Jack was also a long time RI member being designated in 1961 under Certificate #147.

Daniel Jones has been a member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada since 1973, is a 9 year Provincial Board of Director, former Provincial Appraisal Institute AIC-BC President (2006-07) and has recently finished 7 years as a Board of Director at the National Headquarters in Ottawa.  He is also licensed through RECBC and has been an active member of the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver for over 3.5 decades.

From 1996 to 2003 Mr. Jones sat on the Vancouver Chapter of the Real Estate Institute of BC. He was Chair 2001-2004 and elected as Governor in 2004-2006.

Mr. Jones was also appointed to the  Assessment Appeal Board of two first nation  tribunals being the Squiala First Nation, Chilliwack , B.C. and the Tsleil-Waututh First Nation Assessment Appeal Board Panel.  North Vancouver        

Originally engaging in real estate trading, insurance brokering and notary public, Campbell & Pound has transitioned to providing residential as well as industrial, commercial and investment appraisals, including Depreciation Report consultancy work over the past 5 decades.
