“The Health and Technology District, located immediately adjacent to Surrey Memorial Hospital, is proving to be one of BC’s most rapidly growing and dynamic new health-tech sectors,” writes Rowena Rizzotti of Lark Group.

Surrey Memorial Hospital is a busy hospital in a fast-growing region. Lark Group saw this as an opportunity and acted early to secure land immediately adjacent to the hospital.

“In anticipation of future growth and demands, Lark Group saw that this area would become a key asset in Surrey’s developing downtown core and would also play a pivotal role in the transformation of Surrey from a suburb of Vancouver into BC’s largest city,” Rizzotti explains. “Lark Group wanted to build a high-quality environment that would attract the world’s brightest minds to Surrey to accommodate the growing health, science, academic, and technology partnerships across the region.”

Lark Group’s goal was to inspire and transform health-tech work across industry sectors and “. . . to provide a highly collaborative environment . . . that will benefit future generations.”

Once completed, the District will house eight high-tech buildings containing over one million square feet, contributing $1.1 billion annually into the local economy with 15,000 direct and indirect high-tech jobs. Research partnership and investment in health care technology are core components of the District’s success.
