A unique opportunity exists for a highly motivated, professional real estate leader who can bring guidance to an outstanding private company which is focused on customer service and superior property management in the heart of downtown Vancouver. The new Vice President & General Manager brings a full span of control to the large Harbour Centre property and one of the most photographed downtown structures, the iconic 999 West Hastings building, located at Burrard and Hastings. Harbour Centre has a substantial office component with a strong tenant base while also being the downtown campus of Simon Fraser University. It also has a retail mall and food court which supports both the tenant population and general public, and an important tourist attraction, The Lookout, which requires hands-on management and interaction with the Vancouver based tour company operators.

The Vice President & General Manager, Western Region for Polaris, will report to the President and CEO located in Mississauga with P&L responsibilities for the operations here in Vancouver. The individual will have oversight responsibility for the timely and accurate preparation and presentation for financial reporting. They will also be part of the larger Polaris Realty family in Mississauga and Montreal. This role provides strategic short and long term leadership and is fully responsible for the asset and property management of the Vancouver properties which both have their own unique styles.

As Vice President & General Manager, it is this person’s responsibility to establish and execute the agreed goals and objectives of the company, using Polaris’ policies and procedures, and corporate philosophy to enhance the tenant experience through innovative concepts and a focus on operational excellence in every aspect. In addition, there will be an on-going requirement to ensure that the buildings maintain their competitive position and values by identifying and proposing desirable technical and operational enhancements.

Qualifications / Required Skills

To be the selected candidate, an individual will need to have demonstrated a hands-on leadership style coupled with strong business acumen. The role demands a true team leader who builds relationships internally and externally and is a confident and able networker in the community with an eye to ensuring the assets of Polaris Realty are positioned properly in the marketplace. Excellent team-building expertise is required as well as a polished negotiating style, ensuring tenants are respected and the company’s future is secured. Specific requirements sought by our client in any candidate, beyond the highest personal integrity and commitment to excellence, is a career in commercial real estate from an operational perspective where the individual will have demonstrated success in dealing with leasing, operations, construction and leading edge environmental initiatives.
